Hello there, my name is Abraham Lincoln. I am the president of the United States Of America, even though right now our states are not so united. I am on the union side of this war fighting against the confederates. As the leader of the North side I have gathered the greatest generals and bravest soldiers I can find to fight this war. I want to end slavery and unite the states. Before I was president I was a lawyer and I very much enjoy law.
Status Updates:
1850: At this moment all of the northern states have no slaves in the Northern slaves and 3,200,600 slaves in the southern states
1852: a white women named Harriet Beecher Stowe published an anti slave book.
1856: Massachusetts Senator Charles Sumner made a speech attacking the supporters of slavery in the senate. A few days later another senator attacks him in the senate floor and beats him with a cane.
1857: Congress pass's the Tarrif, this lowered the tax rates. This was loved by the south and hate by the north.
1858: Minnesota becomes a state and enters the union as a free state.
1859: John Brown attacks Harpers Fairy Virginia and attempts to arm slaves.
1859: Orogen enters the union as a free state.
1860: I was just elected as president! I received 40 percent of the votes but there were three people running so I won.
Note One
The war started not because of one thing at all. The tension between slave states and free states were growing for a long time. I once said, “ the idea that African Americans could not be citizen, were biased on a false view of American history.” The union started to try and make more states slave states and that’s not what I wanted. In the end I didn’t really care about slaves, all I wanted was to unite the states again. I would take uniting the states over slavery any day.
I do understand that it is important part of the south’s economy. But we do not have slavery and we are doing a lot better economically we have far more railroad tracks, factories and people. In this war only advantage they have is that they are fighting on home ground. The soldiers that are fighting in this war should never be forgotten. I once said that “we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain--that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom--and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." I think they will b e remembered forever and this civil war will be a great event in American history.
Note Two
The civil war has just ended. It was terrible and gruesome. The death toll of the war was about 620,000. There were more union casualties than confederate casualties. That is the toll for freedom and uniting a country.
Most of the deaths in the civil war were not caused by combat but by disease. First off all the wounded soldiers were taken care of by unqualified undersupplied people who didn’t really know what they were doing. 13,000 of the union soldiers who were wounded got limbs amputated. The doctors were sometimes refereed to as “butchers”. In addition to the terrible doctors the conditions were terrible. The soldiers were dirty and dieses spread like wild fire. Over 30 disease were being spread around the soldiers, which lead to huge problems.
I think that this war will go down in American history as one of the greatest and most significant events in our history. I very much do hope that is does.

Note Three
Over this great war I have heard about slaves resisting the confederates. Slaves working slower, slaves trying to escape and sometimes even full slave rebellion. I very much hope that the slaves continue to do this and fight for their rights.
One of the greatest slave rebellions I have heard about was the Nat Turners rebellion. Nate Turner believed that he wanted to kill the whites for enslaving him and people close to him. The revolt killed 60 white people and as a result 56 slaves including Nat turner were executed. In result slave owners tightened up on their slaves and as anger rose some of the slave holders randomly killed their slaves.
Like Nat turner John brown also lead a revolt agents slavery. This was seen as something totally different to the nation because unlike Nat Turner, John brown was a white man. He gathered people to attack the town of Harpers Fairy Virginia. He wanted to get the arms and he hoped that slaves would join him in the revolt. Unfortunately for him Robert E Lee and his army stopped, captured and killed most of his men.
One of the other ways slaves have resisted is by escaping and joining the union army. Over 180,000 black people have enlisted in the war. Some of them are free slaves but a lot of them are run away slaves. Unfortunately the black soldiers will not receive as good of equipment as the white soldiers. I hope the slaves continue to resist to defeat the confederates.
